Description and Rationale
My name is Ehimen Nathaniel and I’m a Nigerian. I am a data scientist and reservoir engineer participating in the PRC Data Challenge 2026 to bridge my expertise in high-dimensional predictive modeling with complex physical systems. As a reservoir engineer, I specialize in modeling pressure dynamics, fluid flows, and network bottlenecks; this physics-guided intuition translates seamlessly to predicting airport surface congestion and taxi-out times. Viewing airport taxiways as localized pipelines where aircraft are the flowing components allows me to approach this logistics problem with a unique engineering lens, utilizing advanced time-series regressions like Gradient Boosting to minimize the competition’s RMSE metric.
Participating in this challenge, backed by Europe’s Performance Review Commission (PRC) and the OpenSky Network (OSN), provides an elite platform to showcase my ability to solve real-world, high-frequency data challenges outside of the energy sector. My goal is to leverage this robust 2025 dataset of major European airport movements to secure a spot in the 5,000 EUR prize pool and ultimately publish a multi-disciplinary, open-access paper in the Journal of Open Aviation Science (JOAS).
