Description and Rationale

I’m an undergraduate university student entering solo as an independent participant. My coursework includes optimization and programming (Python), and I’ve been building small applied-ML projects to learn the craft.

I registered because taxi-out prediction is a problem where a better model has a direct physical payoff — less fuel burned and fewer emissions on the ground. That makes it more motivating than a synthetic benchmark. The challenge’s open-science setup (open data, public code, open-access publication) is also exactly how I want to learn: working in public, reproducibly, against a strong field.

My goal is a clean, well-documented solution and a top-half finish — and to come out of it with a portfolio piece I’m proud of.
