Description and Rationale
Built By Gavin is an independent data and technology project focused on applied machine learning, predictive modelling and data-driven software. I have practical experience developing end-to-end machine learning pipelines using large real-world datasets, with a particular focus on feature engineering, model evaluation, validation and gradient-boosting methods. I decided to enter the PRC Data Challenge because it presents an interesting real-world prediction problem outside my usual domain. I am particularly interested in exploring how temporal patterns, airport activity, congestion and other operational features can be engineered to improve taxi-out time predictions. My aim is to develop a reproducible and interpretable approach, test my existing machine-learning methods in a new domain, and learn from the wider open-data and aviation research community.
